This can't be happening. It's not happening. There's been some mistake. Everything's going to be fine. This isn't denial. panablog is going to be just fine.

How could you do this to me, panablog! How can this be happening!? I'm so angry right now. I am wailing and gnashing my teeth. You're not leaving me!

Okay, I will do whatever it takes to keep this from happening. I'll comment more. I'll post more often. I'll sell more t-shirts. Please don't leave.

What's the point? Why even get out of bed in the morning? I'm so fucking depressed.

You know what? I guess this is just how it's going to be. I'm sad, but I can accept this reality. I will survive.

Wow, such a roller coaster ride is this whole grief thing. So many memories. I think about the first post, how it made me laugh so hard I actually pissed my pants. And the second post and how I pissed my pants again. And then the third post when I realized that I should probably go to the urologist.

And I think about the videos and the photographs and the words. So many words.

And today, the saddest day in the history of the world ever, I lean on the words of Emily Dickinson, who I know would have loved panablog as much as I (but only if she had home broadband access, because she didn't get out much and probably wouldn't have been comfortable going to the public library, even though that's sometimes the only option in rural parts of the country, which is where she lived).

That's right, Fanablog is back in Kansas City after a month-long teambuilding hike up the Appalachian Trail. Great experience for the whole team. Will share stories later. Now, it's time to catch up on five weeks of the world's greatest blog. So excited! For now, enjoy this video from our trip.

One year ago today, panablog changed the way that all of us live our lives. Today, on the one year anniversary, we celebrate not just panablog the website, but also panablog the idea. I hope you are spending the day with your loved ones, thinking about all that Jay and Julia have given in order to make panablog a reality. I know I am.

Here in Leawood, crowds of enthusiastic youths have taken to the streets in jubilation, many unable to control the tears that are only natural on a monumental day such as this.

If you can't make it to a celebration near you, I encourage you to visit panablog and just be there. And remember: Without you, there is no panablog. And without panablog, there is no fanablog. And without fanablog, I'd have no reason to get up in the morning. Happy panablog Day!

(My espanol -- and again, I'm not going to take the time to figure out how to insert the Spanish squiggly above the "n"...just ain't gonna happen -- is a little rusty, but I think it translates roughly to "The Bears of the Bad News," which I believe is a reference to the Jack London book of the same name.)

Honestly, this post would have been much higher in the rankings had it simply included a reference to gigantism. Still, life-changing stuff. Next up, #49!

Behind Fanablog's Top 50 panablog Posts Posts

One week until the big panabirthday celebration. This week, in honor of the first anniversary of panablog (the Interweb's #1 Panama Peace Corps blog), Fanablog (the Interweb's #1 panablog fan blog) will be counting down our top 50 favorite panablog posts.

Obviously it wasn't an easy decision to pick just our 50 favorites. As you know, they're all great -- as if handed down from a higher power. And to be perfectly honest, I just didn't have enough time to rank every single post. Between my part-time job at the panablog Retail Outlet in Olathe, sleeping three hours a night, and the 16 hours a day I already spend on Fanablog, there's just not enough time. Still, 50 is a great start.

Anywho, the selection process was brutal. We locked ourselves in an undisclosed extended-stay hotel for three weeks, during which time each of the 20 Fanablog board members read every word of panablog to the group.

With extended periods of applause and hearty laughter, the process went well into most evenings. That process lasted two weeks. The final week was spent ranking the posts in order of awesomeness. How, you ask, does one rank the sun over the moon, or the forest over the ocean? Notecards.

In the end, we feel confident in the list, realizing that the greatness of each panablog post will lead to some contention. We welcome that discussion and expect to continue the robust discussion for which Fanablog has become so well known.

Well, I've got a choice to make. Apparently June 20 is panablog's first birthday AND West Virginia Day. Argh.

What do I do?

Times like this I usually turn to the Bible, and even as I write I'm thinking about wise King Solomon. What would he do in this situation?...I'm thinking he might just cut the day in two. Let each event have half a celebration. Hmmm. Intriguing.

Of course, then it's likely that both severed celebrations will just bleed out, leaving me with two really dead parties. Also, I don't have the budget for two completely different sets of streamers.

No, I have to make a choice...Think, Snakin, think...

Okay, I know this is going to upset my readers at BestVirginia.blogspot.com, but it must be so. My first love is panablog. Therefore, let the monthlong celebration (it's really kind of just a half month at this point) begin!

Hey, fanafools, do you know what monumental event occurs on June 20? That's right, West Virginia Day!

The Snakin household is busy with preparations. We've decorated each room with a theme. Obviously, the living room boasts a Charleston theme. Master bedroom is Beckley. Morgantown for the guest room. Clarksburg for the kitchen. And just for fun, Wheeling for the garage!

Two truckloads of slate and limestone arrive on Monday. And by the time students from Appalachian Bible College arrive for the celebration on Saturday, Casa de Snakin will look and feel a lot like a household with the lowest median income in the whole nation.

I'll post pictures next week!

Wudup, Fanafools?! Sorry I haven't posted in several weeks. Just been really busy foolin' around and joshin' with my pals. Friendship is the greatest!

In fact, friendship is almost as great as panablog, which as I see it, is friendship in its purest form. That's why it's time to fire up Fanablog, the Interweb's #1 panablog fan blog. And just in time for panablog's one-year anniversary!

Happy PANABLOG week! Hard to believe it's finally here. Preparations are well underway. Animals are being slaughtered as we speak, and the bocce balls are getting a fresh coat of wax. It's going to be pantastic!

Many of you should have received an email reminder this morning. If you did not, it's probably because you're not invited and/or I don't have your email address. I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but it's the truth.

We are fitting a ton of activity into PANABLOG 08, so it will be very important that everyone adhere to the following itinerary. Failure to do so will result in your expulsion and the repossession of your official t-shirt. We don't want it to go down like that, so don't even test us.

The people have spoken, and it's official: panablog is THE #1 blog on the entire interweb!

We received votes from across the country, perhaps even the world (the technology does not yet exist to track information on the interweb; scientists, however, are working on it; as soon as they develop that technology, we'll have it here at Fanablog).

Of course, this only confirms what we have long known to be true: panablog is the single greatest thing in the history of the world EVER.

We shall not rest on our laurels, for laurels are not to be rested on but instead used for cultivating further awesomeness. That's the nature of laurels, and even Jay Panablog Himself can't change that.

Well, looks like we have another celebration ahead. Remember to be safe. As we say around here, There's no Fanablog without panablog, and there's no panablog without you.

We did it! We made it to #2 on a Google search for "panablog"! Obviously, panablog is #1, as it should be. Nothing can stop us now!!! HAHAHAHA!

'Tis been decreed. The Panablogs will be moving to South Beach in 2010. Obviously, this makes the decision for the PANABLOG 2010 host city ricockulously easy.

PANABLOG 2010 will feature special guests Edward James Olmos and Philip Michael Thomas. As is typical with a PANABLOG conference, we'll also be offering a robust schedule of leisure time activities, including but not limited to:

Today we pause to give thanks for all that panablog has done for our country and world. It's a glorious day, indeed.

As I prepare for a full day of festivities, I'm also thinking about those men and women who will never have a chance to see panablog. I think about the 101.58 billion people who died before panablog even existed. So sad.

I guess that's why we started Fanablog and set this mission: "To bring the awesomeness of panablog to every man, woman, and child with an internet connection, and to provide a printed handout to those without."

Of course, panablog Day isn't all seriousness; it's a rollicking good time. Here at Fanablog World Headquarters in Leawood we're already stewing the kidney beans and uncorking the 15-year single malt. Got the History Channel panablog marathon on. And the fireworks are being delivered at lunch. Just imagine the above photo, but with two 150-foot statues, one of Jay and one of Julia. Duplicates will reside on the river Seine in Paris.

Well, I won't waste any more of your precious panablog Day. Have a great time, and for the love of panablog, be safe.

Three Days and Counting ...

Looks like the Panablogs have retired to Old Senterhook, their weekend retreat in the Ozarks. Fanablog wishes them a restful break and eagerly awaits their return for the anniversary extravabonanza.

For prominent couples like the Panablogs, retreats have long provided crucial respite. Teddy and Edith Roosevelt spent many a renewing weekend at Pine Knot, for example. And look what that rest enabled Teddy to do. Yeah, build a freakin' canal that would forever change the world and set in motion a string of events that are just now being realized.

I think it's probably a good idea for all of us to take a little break before the festivities of July 20. Actually, this break is the perfect opportunity for you to curl up with your laptop and just reread every word of panablog. Maybe compile your top 30 favorite quotes from panablog. Or maybe just enjoy it at its most basic level, as the most greatest thing in the history of the world ever.

I've received quite a few concerned phone calls and emails in the past couple days. Seems that a lot of the Panabuddies are upset with the lack of posting.

Listen, I understand your frustration, but you have to realize that Jay and Julia are moving all of their stuff halfway across the country and preparing for a two-year trip to Panama. Let's not make it any more difficult for them. They'll post when they have the time.

Until that happens, I'd like to open Fanablog up to some discussion. What's been your favorite post so far? Favorite comment? What are you looking forward to reading about in the future?

Don't forget to register for PANABLOG 08 in Leawood, Kansas. While there is still plenty of space, I wouldn't wait much longer. As soon as a couple people get the ball going, these things tend to fill up pretty fast.

In case you've been hiding in a cave for the past 19 days, panablog is the interweb's #1 Panama Peace Corps blog, written and hosted by Jay and Julia Panablog. They are so cool. Sort of a modern-day Theodore and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt.

If you have any suggestions about how I can better serve panablog, please drop me a line.
